The National Siblings Competition in Kilmashogue GC was a great success yesterday especially as the rain which was forecast failed to appear.  So in a humid, if somewhat blustery day 24 pairs of Brothers, Sisters and Brothers and Sisters played in our 3rd Siblings Competition.  We had a full time sheet with players from 15 clubs.

Brothers Ian & Ross Williams (Rathfarnham) failed narrowly to retain their title on countback with 41 points.  Brothers Vincent & Rory Callaghan from Ballinamore & Slade Valley clinched the trophy – or in this case watches, having entered the competition for the first time after seeing a notice in the Irish Times.

Sisters, Anne Gildea & Pauline Mahony, also entering for the first time this year, won the Sisters Competition with a score of 38 points.  Elaine & Deirdra Healy came second.

In the Mixed Section, John Baker & his sister Marian Manley (Roganstown) retained their title when they won with 34 points, narrowly beating brother & sister Freddie & Rebecca Hill.

The successful day was only made possible with our Super-duper helpers on the course, the desk, in the kitchen and around the BBQ – Ornagh O’Gorman, Tom Culligan, Vivian O’Rourke, Paul Murphy Dodie O’Brien, Jennifer Moffett, Eileen Hickey, Rosemary Healy, Geoff Brooks, Barry Jackson, Anne Hackett, Jerry Killeen and Jim Nix so thanks to each and every one!

Thanks also to our generous sponsors Dundrum Credit Union, DTA Marketing, Neenan Travel, McGuirks Golf and Supervalue Ballinteer.

And finally thanks to our Captains Deirdra and Colin for all their time, presence and help during the event yesterday.
