Wendy Kearon & Jim Nix showed true grit as they returned to KGC for a sudden death play-off as KGC & Ballinascorney finished the 12 matches  in  the annual 3 Rock Challenge yesterday (Sunday 10th August)  all square.  A sudden deluge, which left the greens of both clubs flooded within minutes, led to a dramatic finish.  Captain Jack Kearney, along with Colin Bell had to clear KGC’s 1st green of casual water as Wendy & Jim, along with their Ballinascorney counterparts took to the 1st tee for the playoff. Ballinascorney had a lucky break as they clipped a tree, close to the pond, before landing just off the 7th green.

Wendy showed bravery with a great shot over the men’s 2nd tee box to land close to the green.  However, despite KGC’s valiant efforts,  Ballinascorney won the hole and the iconic 3 Rock Trophy returns to Ballinascorney until next year.

Thanks to all the players and helpers and especially to Deirdra Healy & Vivian O’Rourke, team managers.
